Commercial invoice
What the goods are, what they cost, and who is buying them.
Without it: Customs value your goods from this. A vague description or a wrong figure means a re-assessment, a fine, or the container held while they decide.
Every document your port needs, prepared and checked before the container sails.
You send us your shipment details. We prepare, check and send you the full set of export documents before the container sails — spelled to match your trade licence, so your port has no reason to hold it.
Goods rarely fail. Documents fail. A container held three weeks over a misspelled name costs more in demurrage than everything we charge, and the fix takes an afternoon if somebody catches it before the ship leaves.
Below is every document your port can ask for — what each one is, and what happens when it is missing or wrong.

Every carton, what is inside it, its weight and its size.
Without it: Without it customs cannot check the load without opening everything. That is days of delay and a bill for the labour.
The shipping line's receipt, and the title to your goods.
Without it: Your name spelled differently from your ID and the port will not release the container. This is the most common reason goods sit at the port.
Proof the goods were made in China.
Without it: Some products attract a lower duty depending on origin. Without it you pay the higher rate and cannot claim it back.
The international code that decides your duty rate.
Without it: The most expensive mistake on this page. Too low and customs re-class it and fine you. Too high and you quietly overpay on every shipment you ever make.
Proof the goods were insured in transit.
Without it: If a container is lost or water-damaged and you have no certificate, you carry the whole loss.
Needed for wooden pallets and anything agricultural.
Without it: Ports reject untreated wood packing outright. The goods are fine; the pallet they sit on stops the shipment.
Food, cosmetics, electrical goods and toys each need their own.
Without it: These are checked at the border, not before. Missing one means the goods are impounded and sometimes destroyed.
